Head of the Department of Information Technology at ITS, Dr. techn. Ir. Raden Venantius Hari Ginardi, M.Sc., explained that this initiative is a form of appreciation from ITS for prospective students who have strived to continue their education despite economic limitations. “Such spirit and determination are worthy of recognition,” he said.
The prospective freshman who was picked up is Maitasya Rohmatul Ula, who successfully gained admission to ITS through the National Selection Based on Achievement (SNBP) pathway. The daughter of Suraji, who works as a farmer, and Anis Farida, a housewife, is the only prospective student receiving the KIP-K scholarship from the Department of Information Technology at ITS who was admitted through the SNBP pathway.

When met at her home, Maitasya shared that she wanted to continue her studies without financially burdening her parents. This awareness drove her to strive hard to maintain her academic performance, actively seek information, and apply for scholarships from the start of the application period. “I want to continue my studies, but my parents’ economic conditions do not support it, so I tried to find my own way,” said the eldest of three siblings.
In her story, the biggest challenge she faced was the limited access to information in her residential area. This affected the process of handling documents and information related to the application. “Despite that, I remained motivated because my teachers and family always encouraged me to keep moving forward,” said the young woman wearing a headscarf.

Through this initiative, ITS reaffirms its role as a university supporting inclusive, equitable, and quality education in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) points 1, 4, and 10: eradicating poverty, ensuring quality education, and reducing inequality. This activity is not only a symbol of concern but also a concrete step toward promoting equality in access to higher education.
