UK: Alstom has awarded Knorr-Bremse Rail Services (UK) an eight-year contract to repair and overhaul 510 toilet systems fitted to Avanti West Coast Class 390 Pendolino trainsets.
The sanitary systems were originally supplied by Evac, which Knorr-Bremse acquired in June 2021.
They will be removed from the trains at Alstom’s Manchester Longsight depot, and then stripped down at Knorr-Bremse’s facility in Wiltshire. Components including vacuum pumps, sliding gate valves and solenoid valves will be inspected, refurbished or replaced as required.
Each unit will then undergo testing before being returned to Longsight for re-installation.
