Avensure’s Chris Garner named one of the UK’s Top 50 Most Ambitious Business Leaders for 2025 – Business Up North

Chris Garner, Managing Director of HR advisor Avensure, has been named one of The LDC Top 50 Most Ambitious Business Leaders for 2025.
Chris founded Avensure in 2011 after identifying the opportunity to create an outsourced HR specialist that included an insurance product to protect businesses against employee tribunals. He has since bolted on many more features, including health and safety support, people management software, onsite training, business immigration services and employee wellbeing offerings like counselling, GP services, and employee perks.
Based in Manchester, the business is a UK leader in employment support, generating £20 million in revenue from over 7,000 clients. Chris was also featured as ‘One to Watch’ in the LDC Top 50 programme back in 2022 celebrating leaders behind tomorrow’s mid-sized firms; growing businesses that are making a big impact.
The Top 50 was created by LDC, the private equity investor that is part of Lloyds Banking Group, in partnership with The Times. Now in its eighth year, it continues to celebrate the drive and ambition of Britain’s best and brightest entrepreneurs. This year the programme received almost 700 nominations, showcasing the exceptional individuals that are building successful, growing medium-sized businesses right across the UK.
Chris Garner, MD of Avensure, said: “I’m so proud of what we’ve built at Avensure; we could triple in size in the UK alone, and our software is designed to go global. We have seen consistent growth since launching the business back in 2011 so it’s fantastic to be part of the LDC Top 50 in incredible company. It’s an exciting time for Avensure as we deliver an ambitious growth strategy and continue to invest in our PeopleCloud platform.”
The business leaders featured in The LDC Top 50 for 2025 are making a powerful impact by creating jobs, making a difference in the communities they serve, championing sustainability and expanding internationally. They are also demonstrating resilience as they drive growth and develop new ideas to innovate and diversify.
They operate from 67 towns and cities across the UK and span every sector of the economy, whilst collectively employing almost 10,000 people and generating combined revenues of £1.2bn.
