Eight years after she traded her Hollywood career for a life as a British royal, Duchess Meghan is reportedly returning to acting.
The Duchess of Sussex has taken a small role in an upcoming movie titled “Close Personal Friends,” according to reports from People, Variety and Deadline.
She is reportedly set to play herself in the Amazon MGM Studios project starring Brie Larson, Lily Collins, Jack Quaid and Henry Golding. Other cast members reportedly include Melissa Villaseñor, Dustin Demri-Burn, Natasia Demetriou, Patti Harrison and Anna Konkle.
The Sun was first to report the news, citing insider sources.
USA TODAY has reached out to Meghan’s representatives and Amazon MGM Studios for comment.
Before marrying Prince Harry in 2018, the actress formerly known as Meghan Markle starred in various films and TV shows, notably the scripted drama “Suits,” where she played Rachel Zane for seven seasons.
Other film roles include 2010’s “Get Him to the Greek” and “Remember Me” as well as 2011’s “Horrible Bosses.”
In 2017, Meghan announced her departure from “Suits” following Season 7, telling BBC’s Mishal Husain: “I don’t see it as giving anything up, I just see it as a change.”
Harry and Meghan departed from their royal duties in March 2020 and moved to California that same year.
By February 2021, the couple officially surrendered their royal patronages and military appointments following a review of their departure agreement.
Harry also gave up his patronage of the Rugby Football Union and the Rugby Football League, while Meghan surrendered her patronage of the Royal National Theatre, which her mother-in-law, Queen Elizabeth II, handed down to her.
Since then, the pair have launched various business ventures, including their joint media company Archewell Productions and the duchess’ lifestyle brand As Ever.
Meghan dipped her toes back into Hollywood in 2022 when she and Harry partnered with Netflix to star in the 2022 docuseries “Meghan & Harry” and years later, her own lifestyle show “With Love, Meghan.”
Earlier this year, the pair signed a multi-year extension for film and television projects with the streaming giant that included a new season of “With Love” and a holiday special for the show, as well as a movie adaptation of the romance book “Meet Me at the Lake.”
Despite returning to the entertainment industry, Meghan has previously dismissed the possibility of being an actor again.
“I’m done. I guess never say never, but my intention is to absolutely not,” she told Variety in 2022.
