WEST BEND — The West Bend Area Chamber of Commerce (WBACC) held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Glass Doctor Auto of West Bend, 848 S. Main St., a neighborly company, to celebrate them joining the chamber.
“(My wife and I) both grew up in the area, we’ve always been in the area. Going into a lot of the businesses you always see the chamber endorsement on a lot of local businesses that are locally owned,” said Glass Doctor Auto of West Bend Co-owner Josh Uelmen. “We just want to drive home that we are also locally owned, and the resources the chamber offers are obviously really valuable for us from a networking standpoint, getting feedback and help from a lot of business owners.”
Uelmen said he grew up restoring cars with his father, and after spending 17 years of his career as an engineer, he knew he wanted to get back to working on cars again.
“I just wasn’t really enjoying it anymore,” said Uelmen. “I wanted to get back into automotive, and found Auto Glass. It was a good fit with the engineering background, with a lot of the electronics the new (vehicles) have and trying to figure out solutions for stuff that’s been discontinued.
He and his wife, Lindsey Uelmen, opened Glass Doctor Auto of West Bend together earlier this year.
“We just opened up the beginning of the year here, in February,” said Josh Uelmen. “Auto Glass is a new venture for us.”
“I know this has been quite a journey, and we’re really excited to see all of this come to fruition for you and your family,” said WBACC President and CEO Toni Gumina.

“It’s definitely been a journey, and we appreciate all the support,” said Uelmen.
Glass Doctor Auto of West Bend provides a wide range of window and windshield replacement and repair services, according to its website.
“It’s not just limited to cars,” said Uelmen.

During the ribbon cutting, Lindsey also announced that they used the event to also raise monetary and food donations for Ruby’s Pantry, which operates out of West Bend Community Church, 2005 S. Main St., West Bend.
“Ruby’s Pantry is a foodshare program that crosses several different states. They get donated food, which is surplus, and then it is hosted at Community Church in West Bend the second Thursday of every month,” said Lindsey. “People can come and make a donation of $25 per share, and then (people) come through and it’s just a little bit of extra food that they can get per month to extend their grocery bill a little bit.”
