Four charged in Colonie business break-ins, police say – SpotlightNews

COLONIE — Colonie police arrested four individuals this week in connection with a series of commercial burglaries that plagued the Town of Colonie business community throughout November.
Beginning Nov. 7, numerous Capital Region businesses reported overnight burglaries characterized by a similar pattern: a suspect or suspects would smash the front glass of a door or window, enter the business, and steal property, typically the cash register and merchandise.
The Town of Colonie saw five businesses hit during this timeframe: Sports Clips (800 Loudon Road), Royal Smoke Shop (952 Troy-Schenectady Road), Corner Deli (98 Wolf Road), and both Bare Blends and Fix Wellness & Beauty (664 Loudon Road).
“It is important to note that this area wide spike in burglaries was the result of the actions of a small group of people, who have all been arrested thanks to the tireless efforts of the Colonie Police Investigative Division with support from our partners,” the police department stated Friday.
Defendants and Charges
The four individuals arrested are:
Mack Murray, 30, of Albany: Charged with two counts of Burglary in the third degree (felony), one count of Attempted Burglary in the third degree (felony), three counts of Criminal Mischief in the third degree (felony), and two counts of Petit Larceny (misdemeanor). Murray was arrested Tuesday and released under probation supervision with electronic monitoring.
Alyssa M. Eaton, 31, of Albany: Charged with one count of Burglary in the third degree (felony), one count of Criminal Mischief in the third degree (felony), and one count of Petit Larceny (misdemeanor). Eaton was arrested Tuesday and released on her own recognizance.
Miguel A. Rodriguez, 37, of Troy: Charged with two counts of Burglary in the third degree (felony), two counts of Criminal Mischief in the third degree (felony), one count of Grand Larceny in the fourth degree (felony), and one count of Petit Larceny (misdemeanor).
Rodriguez also faces unrelated charges of Burglary in the second degree (felony) and Robbery in the third degree (felony). Rodriguez was arrested Dec. 10 and is currently being held at the Albany County Correctional Facility pending a preliminary hearing.
Rodriquez was also arrested in 2024 for multiple burglaries in Colonie. He has seven prior felony convictions.
Heather D. Wilcox, 37, homeless: Charged with two counts of Burglary in the third degree (felony), two counts of Criminal Mischief in the third degree (felony), one count of Grand Larceny in the fourth degree (felony), and one count of Petit Larceny (misdemeanor).
Wilcox was arrested Wednesday and was released under supervision of probation with electronic monitoring.
Colonie Police noted that three of the subjects arrested are currently released from custody and urged the public to remain vigilant. The charges for three released are not bail eligible under State law. Burglary, although a felony, is only bail eligible if it takes place at a dwelling where people live. Having multiple felony charges and incidents had no impact on the ability of Colonie Town Judge Ryan Caponera’s to consider bail. He could not by law.
Investigation Ongoing
The Colonie Police Department thanked several agencies for their instrumental assistance, including the Capital District Crime Analysis Center, the United States Marshals Service, New York State Police, Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office, Albany Police Department, Troy Police Department, and Watervliet Police Department.
While arrests have been made, officials noted that there are still open criminal investigations across multiple jurisdictions throughout the Capital Region, which may or may not involve these suspects. Additional criminal charges stemming from the Colonie burglaries may also be forthcoming.
The police department asks anyone with information related to recent commercial burglaries, including video surveillance footage, to contact the Colonie Police Department investigative division at 518-783-2754 or their local police department.
