Advance Transit, nonprofit fare-free public transit provider serving communities in Vermont and New Hampshire, announced the appointment of Teri Palmer as its new executive director. Palmer will begin her role Jan. 19.
BOLTON — Bolton Valley Resort and Washington County Mental Health Services will hold Turns for a Cause Feb. 11, a community ski and ride day for recreation, inclusion and mental health advocacy. Bolton Valley will remain open until 10 p.m. Bolton Valley will donate a percentage of the day’s sales to WCMHS. The day will feature clients from WCMHS’s Center for Developmental Services spending time on the slopes alongside Vermont Adaptive, community members, staff and supporters.
BERLIN — Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont (Blue Cross VT) announced Beth Roberts as president/CEO following a two-month transition period with outgoing president/CEO Don George. Roberts joins Blue Cross VT from Beth Israel Lahey Health Performance Network, a network of physicians, clinicians and hospitals.
BERLIN — UVM Health–Central Vermont Medical Center announced Anna Tempesta Noonan will retire as president/COO following nine years leading CVMC, and more than three decades of service across UVM Health. Noonan will step down in spring 2026.
Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles has launched a new online commercial vehicle permitting system, called VT Haul Pass, intended to reduce the time required for the commercial vehicle industry to obtain permits to operate oversize or overweight vehicles on Vermont highways, including if an emergency move is needed, it can be done outside of regular business hours. WALTHAM, Mass. — New England Donor Services organ procurement organization announced a record number of 1,692 life-saving organ transplants last year from 640 deceased organ donors in New England. One person can save up to eight lives as an organ donor and heal 75 people as a tissue donor. ROCHESTER — Vermont Adaptive Ski & Sports has purchased more than 125 acres of land in Rochester and conserved the property with the Vermont Land Trust. The land will become Vermont Adaptive’s first owned outdoor education and retreat center. The property, now known as the Vermont Adaptive Outdoor Center, was purchased from the George Dean Martin and Mary Ann Martin Trust. The Martin family were part of VLT’s earlier conservation efforts in the Rochester Valley that helped protect more than 1,500 acres of surrounding forest and farmland.
Vermont Association for Mental Health and Addiction Recovery, Central Vermont Prevention Coalition, and Tufts University HOPE National Resource Center announced a new statewide collaboration to expand access to the HOPE (Healthy Outcomes from Positive Experiences) framework across Vermont. Through the Collective Learning Institute of Vermont, Vermont’s prevention, recovery, mental health, education and human services workforce can now engage with the HOPE model through accessible training options that strengthen community well-being statewide.
Vermont Bond Bank announced its Housing Infrastructure Loan Program to support creation of housing by lowering the cost of expanding municipally owned water, wastewater and transportation infrastructure. Vermont Conservation Voters presented this year’s VCV Environmental Rising Star Awards to Rep. Chloe Tomlinson, P/D-Winooski, and Rep. Dara Torre, D-Moretown. The award is presented bi-annually to newer legislators who have “stepped up to be effective champions of VCV priority issues in their first or second legislative session, and who have a bright future of environmental leadership.”
