'Rock the Country' music festival canceled in Anderson – WYFF News 4

The Rock the Country music festival will no longer be coming to Anderson this summer, according to Anderson County Administrator Rusty Burns. The event had been scheduled for July 25-26 at the Anderson Sports and Entertainment Center.

Recently, rapper Ludacris dropped out of the lineup, and on Friday morning, rock band Shinedown announced on social media that it would no longer be taking part in the performance.
Shinedown said in part, “Our band’s purpose is to unite, not divide. With that in mind, we have made the decision that we will not be playing the Rock the Country Festival.”
The lineup, featuring Creed, Gretchen Wilson and others, was announced last month.
Anderson County Administrator Rusty Burns released the following statement on Friday:
“Anderson County has been proud to host Rock the Country for the past two years. The event was a huge success drawing tens of thousands of visitors, making a multi-million-dollar economic impact on the Upstate. An event of this caliber proved what a great venue and exceptional hospitality we have here in Anderson County. Of course, we are disappointed that Rock the Country will not return to Anderson this year.
“We are already planning additional major events and look forward to exciting announcements to come. Anderson County is committed to bringing high quality arts and entertainment to our community.”
WYFF News 4 has reached out to Peachtree Entertainment (festival organizers) for a statement.
