Volaris to Launch Daily Guadalajara–Saltillo Route – Mexico Business News

Grupo Aeroportuario Mexicanos (AME) announced that Volaris will begin operating a new daily route between Guadalajara and Saltillo on June 1, 2026, expanding connectivity at Saltillo International Airport and supporting regional mobility linked to Coahuila’s industrial activity.
The Guadalajara–Saltillo route will operate daily using Airbus A320 aircraft. Flights will depart Guadalajara at 6:55 p.m., arriving in Saltillo at 8:22 p.m. The return flight will leave Saltillo at 8:55 p.m. and land in Guadalajara at 10:25 p.m., according to AME. The new service complements existing connectivity to Mexico City via Aeropuerto Internacional Felipe Ángeles (AIFA) and an upcoming route to Cancun scheduled to launch in March 2026.
“The incorporation of Guadalajara reinforces the airport’s connectivity strategy and broadens travel options for passengers in the region,” AME said.
According to AME, the route responds to rising demand in a region with significant industrial activity. Saltillo and neighboring municipalities such as Ramos Arizpe and Arteaga host automotive, manufacturing and logistics operations that require consistent connectivity with western Mexico and other markets. AME noted that more than 2.1 million passengers annually travel to and from Monterrey due to limited direct service at Saltillo.
In a statement, AME said the new service forms part of the “Vuela Fácil, Vuela Saltillo” program, a joint initiative involving the airport group, operator ALTEA, the government of Coahuila and airline partners. The initiative aims to broaden route availability and improve access to air travel for the Saltillo metropolitan area and its surrounding industrial corridor.
Planned and ongoing improvements include expanded waiting areas and security screening zones, refurbishment of aircraft aprons and taxiways, and upgrades to parking facilities and access roads. The airport will also add new commercial amenities, including a restaurant, a VIP lounge and expanded retail space.
Additional enhancements include free WiFi, updated technology systems and improvements to air traffic control equipment. AME said the upgrades are intended to support higher traffic volumes while meeting current aviation standards.
“These actions will allow the airport to operate more efficiently and provide a better experience for passengers,” AME said, adding that the investments align with projected traffic growth.
