Perched above Repulse Bay with sweeping views of sea and mountains, this Hong Kong duplex unfolds as a carefully choreographed study in sensory play—one that privileges touch, movement, and atmosphere over overt display. Designed by Clement C Studio, the residence reframes luxury not as excess, but as a lived, bodily experience shaped by texture, light, and flow.
From the moment one enters, the architecture gently guides the body. Rounded corners, curved wall panels, and softened thresholds slow movement and encourage pause, transforming circulation spaces into moments of quiet anticipation. Staircase landings and corridor edges are not merely functional transitions but spatial interludes—designed to be felt as much as seen. This emphasis on continuity and rhythm gives the duplex a cocoon‑like quality, where each room unfolds organically into the next.
Materiality plays a central role in this sensory narrative. Texture paint is applied throughout the home, its layered surfaces subtly catching and shifting light across the day. The walls become active participants in the interior, responding to natural and artificial illumination while serving as a restrained backdrop for the owners’ sea‑inspired artworks. Rather than competing for attention, art and architecture exist in quiet dialogue, reinforcing the home’s meditative tone.
In the bathrooms, full‑body travertine grain molded basins introduce an artisanal tactility. Their organic forms echo the home’s overall curvature, grounding the experience in material honesty and craft. Elsewhere, a wood‑grain film is used extensively across wall panels and furniture—a deliberate choice inspired by Japanese residential and hospitality interiors. Demanding in execution yet highly durable, the material resists UV and humidity damage while maintaining a consistent grain, offering the warmth of wood without its fragility.
Color further enhances the sensory palette. A restrained mix of taupe, grey, and bronze establishes a calm, modern warmth, allowing texture and form to take precedence. The effect is enveloping rather than austere—an interior that invites touch and prolonged inhabitation.
Lighting is treated not as an afterthought, but as sculpture. A signature pendant anchors the main living space, while smaller, artful fixtures trace circulation routes throughout the duplex. As light grazes textured walls and curved surfaces, it casts soft shadows that animate the interior, subtly shifting the atmosphere from day to night. The result is an environment that feels alive, responsive, and quietly theatrical.
Key moments of sensory delight are woven into the layout. The archway between the dining and living areas punctures a main structural wall, creating a visual and spatial aperture that reinforces flow. The staircase, positioned beside the living area, doubles as a sculptural element—its presence felt as a tactile and visual anchor connecting public and private realms. Upstairs, bedrooms retreat into calm, while downstairs, the living, dining, and study areas remain fluid and adaptable.
One standout feature is the open bar, conceived as both social hub and crafted object. Custom‑designed shelves and a hand‑selected marble countertop integrate seamlessly with the Poliform kitchen cabinetry, creating a cohesive composition that balances elegance with a subtle sense of play.
Completed in just two months, the duplex demonstrates how thoughtful design can heighten everyday experience. Through softened edges, tactile materials, and sculptural light, Clement C Studio has created a sanctuary that engages the senses gently and deliberately—an interior where luxury is not shouted, but quietly felt.
