Policymakers, transport operators and financial sector leaders are gathering today for the first edition of the 2026 Graphic Business/Stanbic Bank Breakfast Meeting to examine why reforming Ghana’s urban transport system has become an economic imperative.
Held on the theme “Why resetting Ghana’s urban transport system is an economic necessity”, the high-level forum is taking place at the Labadi Beach Hotel and is expected to generate practical proposals to modernise the country’s transport architecture and improve productivity.
The meeting will bring together regulators, development partners, urban planners and financial institutions to explore how structured bus rapid transit systems, better regulation of commercial transport operators, digital ticketing, improved infrastructure and stronger private sector participation can unlock economic value.

Speakers include Associate Professor at the University of Education, Winneba, Prof. Enoch F. Sam; the Head of Financial Advisory and Equity Capital Markets at Stanbic Bank Ghana, Isaac Simpson; and the General Secretary of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union, Godfred Abulbire.
Discussions are also expected to focus on sustainable financing models and the role of banks and investors in supporting fleet renewal and critical infrastructure development.
Urban transport remains a pressing challenge in Ghana’s rapidly expanding cities, particularly Accra and Kumasi, where congestion, unreliable services and weak enforcement continue to impose heavy economic costs. Long hours lost in traffic and inefficiencies in mass transit systems are estimated to drain millions of cedis in productivity each year.
Today’s forum will feature expert presentations followed by a moderated discussion aimed at generating actionable solutions.
The event is being streamed live on the Facebook and other social media platforms of Graphic and Stanbic Bank for members of the public who wish to follow the deliberations.
