Also notable is a major overhaul to speeding and driver’s license points that could see drivers hit with a fine and points for going just 1 mph over the posted speed limit.
While the number of major new road rules isn’t as high as in previous months, there are still plenty of laws drivers should be aware of.
Drivers now face a fine of up to $500 for leaving garbage in their cars, with the local ordinance coming from Hilton Head, South Carolina.

A major overhaul to New York State’s road rules is highlighted by a revision to speeding penalties that will see drivers cited for going just 1 mph over the posted limit.
If caught going 1 to 10 mph over, drivers risk a maximum fine of $150 in addition to three points added to their driver’s license.
These points are also arguably the more significant punishment considering the general overhaul to New York’s license points system, which makes it easier than ever for drivers to lose their licenses.
In Lakeland, Florida, 14 new automated speeding cameras are set to be installed that threaten offenders with $100 fines for each and every instance of going 10 mph or more over the posted limit.

New Hampshire House Bill 649 was originally set to take effect at the start of the month and would’ve eliminated the mandatory annual vehicle inspections for state registration purposes.
While this would have saved drivers time and money by letting them skip these appointments, a federal judge’s ruling on the law has blocked it from going into effect just days before it was meant to.
The law is still being blocked from taking effect as of this writing, but this could change in the coming weeks and months, making it even more crucial that drivers are aware of its existence.
