Holman Fenwick Willan (HFW) has hired litigation, arbitration and regulatory investigations partner Sumarsono (Jacky) Darsono in Hong Kong, amid rapid growth in its Asia-Pacific business.
Peter Murphy, the head of HFW’s Hong Kong office, said in a press release: “I am delighted to welcome Jacky back to HFW. His multinational practice is an excellent fit for our disputes team in Hong Kong, and aligns strongly with our strengths across commodities, insurance and shipping. Jacky’s longstanding relationships with Indonesian financial institutions, state‑owned enterprises, and corporates will enhance our cross‑border collaboration between Greater China and Singapore.”
Darsono trained at HFW early in his career. Before rejoining the firm, he practised at Reynolds Porter Chamberlain for nine years and was made partner in 2021. He previously worked at DLA Piper as an associate and subsequently at Linklaters.
Darsono said in the press release: “I am excited about rejoining HFW. The firm’s strong international offering and deep sector expertise make it an ideal platform to support both my Indonesian and Chinese clients, many of whom are engaged in cross-border trade and investment.”
He has represented state-owned enterprises, major banks, private funds, corporates, insurers and high-net-worth individuals in court proceedings, arbitration and regulatory matters in Hong Kong and Singapore, involving Hong Kong, Singapore and English law.
He also has extensive experience in shareholder disputes, fraud investigations and cross-border asset recovery. His practice includes handling internal investigations, disciplinary proceedings, and professional negligence claims against accountants, lawyers and other professionals.
HSF’s Hong Kong office is the firm’s second largest globally. The firm has three offices in Greater China, with the other two located in Shanghai and Qianhai, Shenzhen. Together, the three offices comprise 21 partners and more than 80 solicitors.
