Last Friday (27th), Singapore’s Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong, accompanied by Hong Kong’s Chief Secretary for Administration Eric Chan, Deputy Financial Secretary Michael Wong, Secretary for Development Ning Hon-ho, Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry Sun Dong, and Acting Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Bernard Chan, visited the Hong Kong Park of the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Innovation and Technology Cooperation Zone in the Northern Metropolis.
Ning Hon-ho and the team from the Northern Metropolis Coordination Office first introduced the overall planning and latest developments of the Northern Metropolis, as well as the multi-pronged measures to accelerate development and attract investment. Subsequently, the delegation visited the wet lab building in the Hong Kong Park, which officially opened last December, where Sun Dong briefed them on the park’s overall planning, industrial layout, and investment attraction progress.
Eric Chan stated that this visit allowed the Singaporean Prime Minister and his delegation to gain a deeper understanding of the overall planning and future development direction of the Northern Metropolis, as well as the potential investment and cooperation opportunities it offers to Singaporean businesses and enterprises. The visit also further promoted exchanges and cooperation between Hong Kong and Singapore.
He also noted that the Hong Kong Park is one of the four major cooperation platforms in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, aiming to develop into a world-class innovation and technology hub connecting the mainland and the international community, and an important source for cultivating new productive forces for the nation. He hopes that Singapore and Hong Kong can further strengthen cooperation in innovation and technology, talent exchange, and industrial collaboration to jointly promote regional tech development.
The delegation included Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Home Affairs Sim Ann; Senior Minister of State for Culture, Community and Youth, and Trade and Industry Low Yen Ling; and Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Education and National Development Dr. Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim.
