Many Facebook users have been running into a weird bug when trying to view the comments under posts. Users can see the number of comments on posts, but when they tap to view the comments, the section is blank or gets stuck on the loading animation.
This has been happening since at least yesterday for many users.
Dozens of people posted about it in Reddit’s r/facebook community. One thread in particular blew up quickly with users from Canada, the UK, Japan, Italy, and elsewhere all describing the same blank screen.
From what I could deduce, it seems like it’s affecting users on the Android app — but scattered reports suggest it might also be impacting some other platforms. The reason why I believe it’s mostly Android users is that several people mentioned clearing the app’s cache, something that’s not available on iOS, though some referred to the App Store instead of the Play Store.
Furthermore, a screenshot of the bug posted on a separate thread appears to be from a Samsung device.
People tried all the usual troubleshooting first, like clearing cache, restarting phones, and even reinstalling the app. None of that helped until the beta angle came up.
A lot of the complaints trace back to the beta version of the Facebook app. Surprisingly, several users had no idea they were enrolled in the beta program.
So the potential fix for this is to go to the Play Store, search for Facebook, tap on the listing, scroll down, and leave the beta testing program. Then fully uninstall the app and reinstall the standard public version. After signing back in, comments started loading again for many.
The person who started the main thread tried exactly that and confirmed it fixed the issue within minutes. A bunch of replies came in right after saying “that worked” or “comments are back now.”
Not every case has been solved this easily though. Some users followed the steps but still see nothing. A few have switched over to Facebook Lite for now. There are also scattered complaints about the same loading problem on desktop browsers, where you sometimes have to tap the comment bubble icon to force the replies to appear. For some people, the mobile web version or desktop site works fine while the app stays broken.
Meta hasn’t made any public statement about the bug yet. No acknowledgment or estimated fix time has appeared, but that’s not unusual.
For the time being, if your comments aren’t loading, trying the beta opt-out plus reinstall seems to be the most reliable workaround people are sharing. It’s a bit of a hassle, but it’s getting results for most who have tried it.
I cover fast-moving stories across apps, online platforms, and everyday tech — phones, wearables, consoles, and whatever else people are fighting with this week. Bugs, rollouts, scams, policy enforcement, and the occasional internet-culture rabbit hole are all fair game. My goal is simple — make confusing tech news readable.
