Capital markets partner returns to JunHe in Hong Kong – Law.asia

Ryan Choi’s career has come full circle with his return to JunHe Law Offices in Hong Kong, the law firm where he began his professional legal journey. Although transfer formalities are underway, the firm has welcomed Choi back as a partner to strengthen the capital markets practice in the city and across Asia.
Choi spent two years at JunHe when he began his legal career. Before rejoining JunHe, he practised at Kirkland & Ellis’ Hong Kong office for eight years, where he was promoted to partner. Prior to that, he worked at Loeb & Loeb and Sidley Austin, both based in Hong Kong.
Choi focuses on Hong Kong capital markets. He has extensive experience in Hong Kong IPOs, secondary listings, post-listing compliance, M&A transactions, offshore bond issuances and other corporate transactions. He is qualified in Hong Kong and holds a PRC legal profession qualification certificate, with more than 10 years of practice experience.
He has advised on several Hong Kong IPOs, including those of Muyuan Foods, the world’s largest pig breeder, ZG Group, the first Chinese mainland company to list in Hong Kong through a de-SPAC transaction, and Iluvatar CoreX, a leading domestic general-purpose graphics processing unit company.
In cross-border M&A and complex transactions, he advised NetDragon on the spin-off and US listing of its core overseas education business. The deal was selected for China Business Law Journal’s Deals of the Year 2023.
