The subsidy covers 10 high-demand fields.
The Education Bureau announced that the Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions/Sectors will fund 4,781 places in 57 undergraduate programmes for the 2026-27 academic year.
This includes 3,425 places in first-year, first-degree programmes and 1,356 places in top-up degree programmes offered by eight post-secondary institutions.
The subsidised programmes cover 10 high-demand disciplines, including architecture and engineering, computer science, creative industries, financial technology, healthcare, insurance, logistics, sports and recreation, testing and certification, and tourism and hospitality.
Among these, 16 applied degree programmes will receive additional subsidies aimed at enhancing the vocational and professional education pathway at the post-secondary level.
For the 2026-27 academic year, the annual subsidy amounts will remain unchanged at $81,450 for laboratory-based programmes and $46,780 for non-laboratory-based programmes. For applied degree programmes, which include additional subsidies, the total annual amounts will be $89,620 for laboratory-based programmes and $51,880 for non-laboratory-based programmes.
The subsidy applies to new and continuing students for the normal programme duration.
Students in need can still apply for further financial assistance through the Student Finance Office.
