Tlaxcala joined the national effort to strengthen Mexico’s position in the upcoming USMCA review by hosting the Regional Consultation Forum, a dialog organized by the Tlaxcala Ministry of Economic Development (Sedeco) in coordination with the federal Ministry of Economy. The event brought together government officials and representatives from key productive sectors to develop a regional, long-term economic agenda.
The forum featured the participation of Javier Marroquín, Tlaxcala’s Minister of Economic Development; Sergio Silva, Head of Economic Promotion and Growth at the Ministry of Economy; Eugenio Govea, Director General of Technical Support; and Juan Carlos Natale, General Coordinator, Puebla–Tlaxcala Corridor.
During the session, Govea emphasized that the forum is part of a national effort to collect proposals and feedback from various social and business sectors. “The USMCA review is not just another procedure, but a turning point that will define the direction of the agreement for the next 16 years,” he said.
Marroquín highlighted the importance of Tlaxcala’s active participation in this international process, offering a regional perspective that reflects the opportunities and needs of local industries. “From Tlaxcala, we seek to contribute a perspective that strengthens the country’s competitiveness and gives voice to regional economies within North American integration,” he stated.
Through this forum, Tlaxcala reaffirms its position as a strategic player in central Mexico’s economic development, contributing to the construction of a strong, representative national stance for the USMCA review. The initiative also underscores the state’s commitment to innovation, investment, and international cooperation.
Totalmente Tlaxcalteca
MBN reported that Tlaxcala has entered Mexico’s electric vehicle market with the launch of the “Totalmente Tlaxcalteca” (TT), a compact electric car priced at MX$100,000 (US$5,450). The model was unveiled during the Tlaxcala Automotive Forum 2025 and is scheduled for release in December. Officials highlighted that 80% of its components are produced locally.
The announcement was made by Marroquín, in front of over 3,400 attendees and 54 supplier companies. Governor Lorena Cuéllar also attended the forum.
“This project has been in development for two years. Production will start at 20 units per week, with the first batch ready for sale and exhibition in December,” Marroquín said.
The project is led by a private entrepreneur identified only as Edgar, whose surname is being kept confidential to prevent relocation of the initiative. The vehicle is designed for short-distance travel, with a 50km range and seating for five passengers. “It is intended for compact cities or high-traffic urban areas,” Sedeco noted.
