President Donald Trump gave remarks at the 2025 America Business Forum on Wednesday, on the one-year anniversary of his presidential election victory.

Trump started his speech talking about how much he loved Miami, saying that he was thrilled to be back in “magnificent Florida.”
Trump reflected on the past year since being elected for his second term as president.
“It felt like I’ve been in this position for so long, and it’s right, at that point one year ago, I was actually campaigning. We won a tremendous election. We won all seven swing states. We won the great state of Florida, by the way, by 1.4 million votes, which is unprecedented.”
Trump also made comments about last night’s election results, saying that Americans are facing a big decision.
"After last night’s results, the decision facing all Americans could not be more clear — we have a choice between Communism and common sense."
The president also talked about the ongoing government shutdown, urging Senate Democrats to vote to reopen the government.
"It is time for Chuck Schumer and the Radical Democrat Congress to stop playing games with people's lives and to pass a clean funding bill — that they've done 30 times before — and to reopen government IMMEDIATELY."
Trump further claimed that Democrats are "causing millions of Americans who depend on food stamps to go without benefits, they’re forcing federal workers to go without paychecks, and they're stranding thousands of travelers at airports."
Trump also discussed how his last few months in office have helped make America “affordable again, saying that prices have gone down since he started his second term as president.
"Walmart just announced that the cost of their standard Thanksgiving meal is 25% lower than one year ago. Since March, the price of eggs has been down 85%. Energy prices are down, interest rates are down. and the cost of the typical new mortgage is down by nearly $3,000 a year. Day by day, we're making America affordable again."
The president also talked about other work his administration has done since taking office.
At the end of his speech, the Mayor of Miami, Francis Suarez, gifted Trump a key to the city, telling the 47th president, “Your leadership and your vision have shaped not only our nation, but also the future of our city.”

Before heading to Florida, Trump met with Senate Republicans in the morning at the White House to discuss the shutdown over breakfast.
The president called on Senate Republicans “to do what they have to do” and get rid of the filibuster.
"It's time for Republicans to do what they have to do, and that's terminate the filibuster," Trump said. "It's the only way you can do it, and if you don't terminate the filibuster, you'll be in bad shape. We won't pass any legislation."
Other speakers at the event include Argentinian President Javier Milei, former pro-tennis athlete Serena Williams, soccer athlete Lionel Messi, and actor Will Smith.
The America Business Forum covers topics such as business, culture, finance, and sports, with this year’s theme being “This world needs an America.”
