Victim dead after shooting at Lapeer County business; suspect shot by police – FOX 2 Detroit

A deadly shooting at a Lapeer County manufacturing business is under investigation Wednesday morning, according to police.
What we know:
Almont Police Chief Dan Willis said the victim was fatally shot by a 32-year-old Columbus, Mich. man at Trims Unlimited on Van Dyke north of Dryden in Almont around 8:20 a.m.

After the shooting, the suspect fled the scene, and an alert was issued for his vehicle. Imlay City police spotted the suspect driving on I-69, and a chase ensued. 
Michigan State Police troopers and Lapeer County Sheriff's deputies joined in and chased the suspect until he stopped on Sutton Road near Wilder in Metamora.
A shooting at a manufacturing business is under investigation. A victim was shot several times at Trims Unlimited in Almont by a suspect who then fled and was shot by Lapeer County deputies.
MSP said the suspect "engaged" with police, leading to two deputies shooting him. The suspect is currently in custody at a hospital, where he is listed as stable.
"The suspect stopped his vehicle here on Sutton Road, near Wilder Road, and engaged with the deputies," said Michigan State Police Lt. Kim Vetter. "Two deputies responded by shooting their issued weapons and the suspect was shot."
Three police officers were injured during the chase and five patrol vehicles were damaged. They were treated at a local hospital and released.
Witness Pat Manus who works at the Lapeer business, spoke to FOX 2.
"It's very unnerving to say the least," he said. "It makes you wonder what goes through people's minds."
The company, Trims Unlimited, manufactures seatbelts and interiors for cars.
What we don’t know:
It is unclear how the shooter and victim knew each other.

The deputies involved are currently on paid administrative leave while the investigation is ongoing.
