The final game of the college football season has arrived, as No. 1 Indiana and No. 10 Miami meet in the 2026 College Football Playoff national championship.
President Donald Trump will be in attendance for the first Big Ten-vs.-ACC national championship matchup in the CFP era. The Hoosiers and the Hurricanes are slated for a 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff Monday, Jan. 19 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.
This isn’t the first time Trump has attended a college football game in his two terms, as he has been in attendance for the Army-Navy games and several College Football Playoff games. He also attended multiple Power Four games since he first took office in 2017, including LSU’s win over Alabama in 2019 in Tuscaloosa.

Yes, Trump will be in attendance for Monday’s CFP Championship between Indiana and Miami, the White House has confirmed with the USA TODAY Network. Trump’s appearance at Hard Rock Stadium was first reported by Axios on Jan. 14.
He is expected to be joined by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who served as United States Senator for Florida from 2011 through 2025 before joining Trump’s cabinet last year.
Trump is taking in Monday’s CFP Championship between Indiana and Miami as part of his Martin Luther King Jr. Day schedule. Aside from that, Trump does have some connections to the game, specifically with the Hurricanes.
Trump’s granddaughter, Kai Trump, recently signed to play for the women’s golf team at Miami during the early signing period Nov. 12. Kai Trump made her LPGA debut in mid-November, when she competed in The Annika, where she was the youngest player in the field.
Trump will be attending his third national championship game. His first national championship game appearance was in 2018, when Tua Tagovailoa threw a 41-yard touchdown pass to DeVonta Smith to lead Alabama to a 26-23 overtime win vs. Georgia.
