UVM Extension and Vermont Vegetable & Berry Growers Association offer a weekly winter webinar series for commercial growers. The webinars are held from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesdays, Feb. 11 through April 29. Free to attend, registration is required to at the Zoom link.
UVM College of Nursing and Health Sciences names Dr. Dain LaRoche as its dean. Currently, he is associate dean for research in the College of Health and Human Services and professor of exercise science at the University of New Hampshire, Durham.
UVM Grossman School of Business appoints Vikas Anand as dean. He currently serves as associate dean for academic programs at North Carolina State University’s Poole College of Management.
UVM Health-Central Vermont Medical Center welcomes new Board of Trustees member, Tawnya Kristen, who serves as executive director of Green Mountain United Way.
Southern Vermont Area Health Education Center is accepting applications for its College Student Health Internship Program, offering paid, 100-hour summer internships for college students interested in public and community health. AHEC announced the addition of Makenna Hubert, as its new health careers coordinator. A native Vermonter, she is currently pursuing a master’s degree in public health at Boston University.
Bi-State Primary Care Association is celebrating its 40th anniversary of primary care and health services across New Hampshire and Vermont, advocating for Community Health Centers. Bi-State’s annual Primary Care Conference on May 20, at Lake Morey Resort in Fairlee, will feature a keynote from Dr. Thomas Ward Jr., whose work with Dr. Jack Geiger chronicles the origins of Community Health Center.
NORTHFIELD — Brook Field Service has partnered with Kohler Generators to present a $10,000 donation to Vermont Foodbank. Brook Field Service owner Jim Brochhausen launched the promotion after seeing the impact of recent federal funding cuts and SNAP disruptions related to government shutdowns. Kohler Generators agreed to join the effort.
DERBY — Community Bancorp., parent company of Community National Bank, announced it has received approval to list its common stock on the Nasdaq Capital Market.
HARDWICK — The 2026 Hardwick Community Winter Markets will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15, at Hazen Union High School, 126 Hazen Union Drive, where the final market will be March 15.
This partnership between Hardwick Farmers Market, Center for an Agricultural Economy, and Hazen Union High School, support of local farmers, food producers, artisans and the community’s youth.
State Treasurer Mike Pieciak and local leaders this week announced new housing investments made through the 10% in VT Program. The program authorizes 10% of the state’s average daily cash balance for projects that grow Vermont’s economy and state revenues. The funds are issued through low-interest loans.
CASTLETON — Hubbardton Forge, lighting manufacturer, announced its design advisory council is adding five new interior designers:
Andrea Schumacher, of Denver-based Andrea Schumacher Interiors; Kaitlyn Wolfe, founder/principal designer of an interior design + build studio in Scottsdale, Arizona; Kurt McKeithan, founder/principal designer of a Nashville-based, interior design firm; Lisa Kahn, founder of Finding Sanctuary by Lisa Kahn Designs, based in Naples, Florida; Tula Summerford, based in North Carolina, a product of New York City’s Fashion Institute of Technology.
BARRE — Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel has made a $6,078 donation to support Vermont Foodbank and JCEO Plattsburgh Foodshelf. Lenny’s teamed up with Darn Tough Vermont to make a limited-edition, Vermont-made sock, donating $2 from every pair sold. Over the past 14 years, Lenny’s has donated more than $319,000 to the Vermont Foodbank and JCEO Plattsburgh Foodshelf.
FAYSTON — The Mad River Glen Cooperative announced it has raised $2.8 million to support acquisition of approximately 1,100 acres of land surrounding the Mad River Glen ski area, surpassing its $2.5 million fundraising goal. The land acquisition reunites Mad River Glen’s original land holdings as they existed at the 1948 time of its founding. Any funds raised beyond the purchase price will support long-term stewardship of the land. A shareholder meeting will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, to formally authorize the cooperative to complete the purchase.

Northeast Dairy Business Innovation Center has been awarded $3.45 million in funding from the USDA. NE-DBIC serves dairy farmers and processors across 11 states, including Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont. Funds directly support dairy farmers and processors with modernization and innovation, to increase and sustainability.
St. JOHNSBURY — Passumpsic Bank announced the promotion of Jaime Gaboriault to customer support and operations manager. She brings more than 26 years of experience with the bank to her new role and most recently served as a senior customer support specialist.
SOUTH BURLINGTON — PC Construction recently announced the promotion of Mike Yesalonia to vice president of operations and advisor to the CEO. Yesalonia, originally from Barre, has led projects, including development at Vermont’s Spruce Peak Resort and the award-winning Atlanta Water Supply Program in Georgia.
BRATTLEBORO — The Richards Group announced it has acquired the Burlington Insurance Agency of Colchester where staff will remain at their current office, 1241 Prim Road, Colchester.
The Richards Group has been named one of the “Best Places to Work in Vermont” for each of the past 10 years by Vermont Biz and Vermont Chamber of Commerce. KILLINGTON — A new economic impact study conducted by Vermont Adaptive Ski & Sports and CRO Planning & Design shows Vermont Adaptive contributes more than $10.3 million annually to Vermont’s economy while supporting 72 jobs and generating $1.8 million in state, local and federal tax revenue.
Vermont Asylum Assistance Project announced attorneys Erin Jacobsen and Margaret “Maggie” Frye are joining its staff as practice development fellows. The program pairs advanced-career attorneys interested in launching solo or small immigration law practices in Vermont.
Erin Jacobsen, Esq., has represented immigrants and asylum seekers, taught and supervised immigration law at Vermont Law & Graduate School, and most recently served as chief of staff to the Burlington mayor. Maggie Frye, Esq., has spent more than a decade at Legal Services Vermont, most recently as managing attorney.
Vermont Manufacturing Extension Center announced its annual election of VMEC Advisory Board members.
Reelected for additional two-year terms are Cristin O’Donnell, plant director, King Arthur Baking Co. (Norwich); Dave Blittersdorf, president/CEO/founder, AllEarth Renewables Inc. (Williston); Janette Bombardier, chief technology officer/COO, Chroma Technology (Bellows Falls); and Mike Rainville, president/owner, Maple Landmark Inc. (Middlebury). Also, Rainville was reelected as chairperson of the Board for an additional one-year term.
BARRE — Wilkins Harley-Davidson team and volunteers will dive into a Casella Dumpster filled with icy water Feb. 21 to raise money for the Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth. Participants encouraged to wear costumes; everyone who RSVPs and attends will be entered to win a monthly giveaway. Last year’s event raised $5,600 for CHaD.
