broke out into fame in the 1999 comedy movie American Pie, and after decades away, recently opened up about whether or not he’d ever return to it.
Speaking to ComingSoon in a recent interview for his upcoming movie Dolly, Scott was asked what he thought about Jason Biggs saying he’d love to return to the American Pie franchise for a potential fifth film. Scott said he’d love that himself as well, but doesn’t think it will ever happen.
“For sure. I haven’t seen his movie yet. It looks amazing. The reviews were incredible. I’m not surprised that he’s a great director,” Scott said. “He’s so smart, even from the beginning. You could just tell he’s such a star. But yeah, of course, with Biggs directing, that would be amazing. I think it would be really fun to get everybody together. I don’t think it’ll ever happen, but it’s fun to think about.”
When asked as to why Scott doesn’t think the movie will ever happen, he thinks it might take some other comedies coming out and being successful to convince studios that it’s a worthwhile move.
“I don’t know. Maybe it’ll take a couple of R-rated comedies to work and be a success. Then they’re like, ‘Oh, people like this stuff again.’”
The American Pie film series premiered in 1999 with the first film, and featured a litany of stars throughout its series, including Biggs, Shannon Elizabeth, Thomas Ian Nicholas, Eddie Kaye Thomas, Chris Klein, Seann William Scott, Alyson Hannigan, and Eugene Levy. The last film in the main series, American Reunion, released in 2012.
