Ball State has reached fundraising goal
Ball State University announced last week that it has reached the $350 million goal for its Our Call to Beneficence: The Campaign for Ball State University.
“Reaching our $350 million goal is a significant milestone for Ball State University and a reflection of the generosity of our graduates, friends, and benefactors,” Ball State president Geoffrey S. Mearns said in a news release. “Their support is creating more opportunities for our students, strengthening the distinctive academic experiences we provide, and continuing the transformation of our campus.”
The university plans to continue fundraising through June 30, 2027.
Launched in 2023, the campaign is supporting initiatives including the George and Frances Ball Scholars Program. It is also funding capital improvement projects, such as the Performing Arts Center as part of the university’s Village Revitalization project.
Nominate for awards
Nominations are open for the Governor’s 2026 Century and Half Century Business Awards.
The honors recognize businesses that have been in operation for at least 100 or 50 years and have demonstrated a commitment to serving their community. Winners will be honored at a ceremony at the Indiana Statehouse.
“Indiana’s legacy businesses are a testament to the commitment, work ethic and resilience of Hoosiers,” said Indiana Gov. Mike Braun in a news release. “From small and medium-sized businesses to large corporations, Indiana companies operating for more than 50 or 100 years have made a profound impact on our economy and our people. I look forward to celebrating the tremendous achievements of these businesses and continuing to provide a pro-growth business environment that supports their operations for the next 50 or 100 years.”
To nominate a business, visit iedc.in.gov. The deadline is Saturday, May 30.
AI implementation
Dollar General is planning to roll out an AI-enabled audio network in its stores.
The retail chain is partnering with QSIC for the project. The network will seek to “deliver more relevant, localized and measurable audio experiences to customers” as well as advertising for its brand partners.
“We’re constantly looking for innovative ways to help brands meaningfully connect with our customers, and by introducing an AI-powered in-store audio network, we’re unlocking an entirely new layer of relevancy and accountability in the shopping experience,” said Austin Leonard, vice president and general manager of DG Media Network, in a news release. “It’s a powerful way to create value for our brand partners while enhancing the in-store experience for the millions of customers who rely on Dollar General every day through more relevant, contextual messaging designed to add value, not noise, to their shopping trip.”

The bottle will be used for Fitz’s Tonic Water, Tonic Water Zero and Club Soda. They will be available for purchase next month at fitzsrootbeer.com.
“Partnering with Ardagh Glass Packaging from concept to completion on our quality beverage mixer launch was a seamless experience and critical to bringing our vision to life,” said Michael Alter, founder and president at Fitz’s Bottling Company, in a news release. “Glass packaging was central to our strategy, allowing us to showcase the quality, craftsmanship and character of our mixers, and Ardagh immediately understood that vision. Their collaborative approach helped us create a unique bottle that truly showcases our products and perfectly represents our brand.”
Ardagh operates glass manufacturing facilities in Dunkirk and Winchester.

New VP named
Indiana Wesleyan University has named Andy Miller as its new executive vice president for its online division.

“Andy has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership, vision and a deep commitment to our Christ-centered mission,” said IWU president Jon Kulaga in a news release. “His ability to drive innovation, strengthen partnerships and expand access to high-quality education positions IWU National and Global for continued growth and impact. I am confident in his leadership as we continue to scale our online presence and move into this next phase of growth.”
