Clover Island, Kennewick.
The Port of Kennewick is holding public interviews Nov. 4 for four finalists for its vacant commission seat.
The special meeting will take place at 5 p.m. at the Tri-Cities Business and Visitor Center board room at 7130 W. Grandridge Blvd., Kennewick. Of eight initial applicants for the vacant District 1 position, four will be interviewed at the meeting: Matt Boehnke, Don Britain, Marie Mosley and Robert (Rob) Welch.
They’ll be asked about their interest in serving as a port commissioner, what they wish to accomplish during this appointed term, and, if appointed, whether they intend to run in the 2027 election for that position.
The commission seat was vacated by Ken Hohenberg, who retired from the position Sept. 1 to spend more time with family. His six-year term began in 2022, and his replacement will fill the position until that term ends on Dec. 31, 2027.
Port commissioners receive a salary of $37,511 annually plus medical benefits, according to the port’s website.
The selected candidate will be appointed commissioner at the port’s regular public meeting at 2 p.m. Nov. 10.
