Two new businesses, Smiley’s Cafe and Munchi Snack Bar, have opened in the Village Valley Parkway Plaza in Zillah.
Two more businesses have opened in the recently-constructed Village Valley Parkway Plaza in Zillah, with another expected to open soon.
Smiley’s Café, at the north end of the plaza’s east wing, opened earlier this month and offers hot and cold caffeinated drinks and a community meeting space. It will soon add breakfast and lunch items.
Munchi Snack Bar, in the south end of the same building at 150 Vintage Valley Parkway, offers a variety of sweet drinks and food including fruit cups, mini pancakes, milkshakes and various strawberry treats. A complete menu is available on its Facebook page.
Both businesses, along with Julian Calzada’s State Farm Insurance office that opened in October, have enjoyed the visibility of the location near an Interstate 82 exit and the vehicle and foot traffic along the walkway.

“Moving here has been outstanding, it’s been great,” Calzada said Tuesday about his Village Valley Parkway Plaza office. “We’ve had way more exposure, and there’s way more traffic — including a lot of walking traffic from people using the parkway.”
Esmeralda Gil opened Smiley’s Café to provide a place for community groups to gather, kids to do homework and hang out, and to give Zillah residents a business that’s open into the evening hours.
“I grew up here, and we didn’t have anywhere for kids to hang out and gather in a safe environment,” Gil said. “So far, so good — we’ve been busy in the afternoons and are open later than most other businesses.”
Gil said they have offered a variety of cold and hot beverages since Smiley’s Café officially opened with an April 9 ribbon cutting, and the kitchen is scheduled to be open the week of April 27. Breakfast and lunch items are planned, with the hope of offering some dinner options at some point this summer.
Smiley’s Café has a drive-thru window and is open 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturdays through Sundays. Call 509-901-7205 or visit their Facebook page for more information.
In between the two recently opened businesses, Native Bloom Trading is nearly complete and will offer beads, craft supplies and similar items. For more information on the women and Native American-owned arts and crafts store, visit the Facebook page.
The Vintage Valley Parkway Plaza was built by Complete Restoration and Construction. Directly across the parkway from Yakima Chief Ranches, it spans 15,000 square feet across two buildings and offers eight retail, restaurant and professional office areas.
“We’ve been proud to work alongside the owners of Vintage Village Parkway Plaza from the beginning and to support their tenants as they open their doors,” Zillah City Administrator Michael Grayum said in a recent news release. “This is exactly the kind of project that strengthens our community.”
The parkway itself is a 3-mile-long corridor along I-82 that begins and ends near two highway interchanges. It was dedicated and opened in November 2022 with lighting and walking trails to connect business storefronts and the existing and new homes planned at nearby Zillah Lakes.
