3-year-old hit and killed by car while eating at restaurant with family on Father’s Day – WWBT

BEACHWOOD, Ohio (WOIO/Gray News) – A toddler died after she was hit by a car while eating outside with family members at a restaurant in Ohio on Father’s Day.
Beachwood police said an 18-year-old was driving through the parking lot of a shopping center when she left the road, crossed a curb and went into the outdoor dining area of City Barbeque.
Then the vehicle slammed into a 3-year-old girl. The young child was taken to the hospital, where she died from her injuries.
It’s unclear how fast the car was going when the toddler was hit, but a 911 caller said the car was going in reverse at the time.
Beachwood police charged Jasmine McFadden, of Euclid, with aggravated vehicular homicide. According to court records, she was operating the vehicle without a license.
Investigators also charged former Cleveland State basketball star Kenneth McFadden, 61, of Euclid. Police said he was seated in the front seat, but initially told officers he was the driver.
McFadden was a standout basketball player at Cleveland State University in the 1980s, leading his team to the Sweet 16 in 1986.
