Anthropic could be valued at more than $2 trillion in its forthcoming initial public offering, putting the Claude maker on track for the largest listing in history.
At that level, the artificial intelligence business would trump Elon Musk’s SpaceX, which became a stock market company in June with a value of $1.75 trillion. Investors believe that Anthropic’s lead in model capability, as well as the rapid adoption of Anthropic’s tools among businesses, justifies the valuation.
Annual recurring revenue — the company’s preferred revenue metric which extrapolates annual performance from a single month — is expected to reach $100 billion to $120 billion by the end of the year, up from $48 billion in May and just $9 billion at the start of the year.

The boss of Aviva has hailed a “very strong” first half for the FTSE 100 insurer after a turnaround of its Direct Line business helped fuel a bigger-than-expected rise in profits.
Operating profits at the group increased by 24 per cent year-on-year to about £1.33 billion, beating the £1.26 billion expected by City analysts for the six months to the end of June.
Dame Amanda Blanc, the insurer’s chief executive, said management was “making very good progress with the integration of Direct Line”, which Aviva bought for £3.7 billion a year ago.

A new pizza and brunch spot backed by an Aberdeen hospitality chief will soon open on Belmont Street.
Named “Byte”, the restaurant will offer up the late morning special throughout the day and the Italian favourite at night, while also promising their own brand of “great tasting” coffee.
The venue will open in early October, taking over the former Dough and Co doughnut shop on Belmont Street.

When bosses of the Trinity Centre took ownership of the car park last year, they vowed to keep prices low for customers — now, they have gone one step further by extending opening hours to 24/7.
The multi-storey car park previously shut at 6.30pm Monday to Saturday and 6pm on Sundays.
But from today, it will remain open around the clock.
