TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa Police Department said two people are dead following a shooting at a business in north Tulsa.
According to TPD Officer Andre Baul, a call was received around 11 a.m. that two people were shot at a business near Pine and Garnett.
Police said a group came to a towing company in the area looking for a vehicle that had been repossessed.
The department said two people went inside to speak with the owner when an altercation began and one of the people searching for the vehicle, later identified as Darius Jones, pulled out a weapon.
Officers said the business owner pulled out a weapon of his own to defend himself and shots were exchanged between the two.
Authorities said the business owner and his wife were both shot, while Jones ended up being struck in the arm.
The department said Jones then ran across the street until emergency responders arrived at the scene.
When police arrived, they stated the business owner's wife had already passed away from her injuries.
Emergency responders entered the business and transported the owner of the business to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Fire and EMSA treated Jones and transported him to the hospital.
After Jones was released from the hospital, the department said he was taken to the Tulsa County Jail and booked on two counts of First Degree Murder.
