Afognak Native Corporation has acquired a majority interest in the parent company of Weaver Bros., Doyle’s Fuel Service and Doyle Transport, expanding its commercial business into Alaska freight and fuel transportation. The purchase price and size of the stake were not disclosed.
The parent company will be renamed Afognak-Weaver Logistics. The three businesses will retain their names, and James “Jimmy” Doyle will remain president, according to a statement.
Founded in 1946 and owned by the Doyle family since 1978, Weaver Bros. transports fuel, refined products, dry bulk and refrigerated freight. It also handles heavy hauling and specialized shipments for construction, energy, mining, retail and government customers across Alaska.
The deal adds transportation operations to Afognak Commercial Group’s holdings, which include a fleet management business serving hundreds of vehicles worldwide and a commercial security company.
Afognak has not said whether it plans to integrate those operations with the acquired companies. acg.afognak.com
Afognak CEO Dan Corbett said the investment supports the corporation’s long-term commercial growth and its shareholders. The announcement did not disclose the acquired companies’ revenue or workforce size.
